Kuch aaj kal se hi, ishq ilm ka

le raha hai imtehaan,

betuki si uljhanon me, kar raha

hai fateh aur farman.

waqt ashiqon ke liye,

lamhon me rukna janta nahin,

lekin har lamhe me tham jane ka

ehsaas chhod jata hai vahin.

ishq ka yun prashn karna, phir

apne hi khayalon me ghum hona,

tark karte hue ilm ka, phir

apne hi vitark khona…

kaho, ishq ka naam hi ilm hai,

ya dono ka ek hona mumkin hai?

kaho, kis lavz se is gumnam sifarish

ko main de doon anjam…?

  1. This poem is like a smoothly flowing river. Serene, soothing, and beautiful.
waqt ashiqon ke liye, lamhon me rukna janta nahin,
lekin har lamhe me tham jane ka, ehsaas chhod jata hai vahin.
    So true and best lines.
Liked the flow of poem. The whole experience of reading was so good.
In so less time, you could write such beautiful piece, shows that you have an eye of a poet and vast vocabulary in English as well as Hindi. Great. 🙂 🙂

    1. haha… i’ll try, but it won’t be the same for sure…

so, umm ‘ishq’ means love, and ‘ilm’ translates to knowledge, or science…
this poem is basically like.. a fight between love and reason, you see.

      here:

In the recent days, my knowledge has been testing my love,
      trapping it in absurd questionning,
      it is ruling, and conquering.

Time doesn’t stop for lovers in
      the moment,
Yet leaves a feeling of moments lingering on forever in Time.

      Love questions, and then falls
      into it’s own thoughts
and Reason gets caught in it’s
      own conflicts

Tell me, is Love itself the Reason too,
or is it possible for them to be one?

Tell me, in what words, do I give consequence
      to this obscure, anonymous desire?
      …..

So yeah, that’s the best I could give.
      hope it makes some sense?
