A Speck

In the seeming vastness of my sailing sight,

a speck, an anchor to the drifting gaze,

through waves of winds, o’er seamless fields,

it smiled at me in a summery haze.

Story time.

Once I was strolling in the garden, all alone. And all I could see was green grass and yellow grass and shades of green and yellow grass…other than that, there were large, colorful, pretty flowers along the hedges… all pruned and prim….

It felt like the gardener had done some overtime. And that saddened me. I do not like prim and proper gardens, I prefer wilderness rambling around in tangles of beauty.

But as I was gazing and gazing into the seeming vastness of the grass…….. i spotted a small yellow flower. Small enough to go unnoticed by the gardener , but large enough for my lingering eyes to anchor on.

It was tiny. And yellow. Bright yellow, as if it was smiling at me. As if it was telling me, that it’s okay to be a rebel. It’s okay to let your soul seethe with joy in a sea of desolation.

And there it was, smiling away happily, twitching with bursts of breeze….

I spent the entire afternoon there, I remember.
